Cafe Bandra – Restaurant Review

Familiar as the melting pot of uncanny aspirations, Mumbai is known as the city of dreams. However, the essence of the city is brilliantly captured by the winds of Bandstand to the bylanes of Pali Hill; there is nothing we don’t love about Bandra! Cobbled with fascinating architecture of the new and old, #Mumbai50 is irresistibly charming. With its deep-rooted, homely atmosphere along with the liberal and laid-back vibe, this part of Mumbai does attract a lot of people and is appropriately called “the Queen of Suburbs”. Though, when it comes to the population, Bandra’ites are young at heart, joyous and pretty chilled out!
Café Bandra, situated in the heart of suburb, is a place that beautifully settles itself with ease blurring the thin line between casual dining and fine dining. Café Bandra is a gastronomical tribute to Bandra by a gang of friends coming together from different professional backgrounds for their utmost love for food and Bandra.
Stretched across over a 1000 sq.ft, this café has a beautiful dining area, a designated smoking area and a VIP section. The moment you step in the dining area, you won’t be able to take your eyes off the screw art on the walls. The incredible metal screw art installations represent the iconic buildings and sculptures of Bandra i.e., Sea Link, Bandra Station, Mount Mary Church and Galaxy Apts along with Bandra’ites beloved Chai with Bun Maska. Though, it is the metal screw Map of Bandra with a heart in the centre that truly illustrates the utmost love of the people for #Mumabi50. Basically, this cafe has everything that defines Bandra and Bandra’ites.

The first and one of the most appealing things about this place is that unlike the other dark, dungy places in Bandra, this one is beautifully and brightly lit! Soft music, great decor and great setting is what sets an appealing tone to what is to follow at this place.

Cafe Bandra does not serve alcohol, but the delicious and exclusive mocktails here more than make up for it. So does the sheesha! Ask the servers here for their recommendations on milkshakes and mocktails and they will make you something that you will absolutely love! The Berry Smoothie however is a must try!

Imagine a cold, wintery evening when you are hungry…..what would you want? Confused? Well the answer is the Bouillabaisse  that they serve here!

The Coriander Crusted Prawns, Chicken Harissa Skewers and the English Kheema Pav Tower are the must have starters for Non Vegetarians.

The Vegetarians should not miss their Baked Canapes! The Stuffed Mushrooms however can be given a miss.

The Pizzas here are freshly made and are a perfect proportion of the toppings to the crust to the cheese. The Bandra Buggers Pizza was an absolute delight to have!

The Classic Crepes are a must have in the mains irrespective of whether you are vegetrian and non vegetarian. Th only criteria here is that you need to love creamy and cheesy food.

The Herb Scented Sea Bass  is the bomb and seafood lovers absolutely cannot miss this one. While the Kaffir Scented Chicken was nice and aromatic, the Spaghetti Bhuna Ghosht was a great mix of the Indian delicacy with spaghetti (The spaghetti could have been better cooked though!).

All in all, to be honest, when I heard about this new place in Banda – Cafe Bandra, the first thought that came to my mind was – “Yeah, like Bandra even needs one more of those!…Duh!” But I was wrong and how! Turns out that this place is exactly what Bandra needed….an honest and simple cafe that creates magic with its food offerings.

Do Try!
